Local Hay Relief Effort

Right after the Anderson Bridge fire was pretty much contained, Mark Johnson contacted KVSH Radio about helping to find hay for three families in the Niobrara River Vaelly that lost large amounts of hay. John Johnson accepted the job of organizing and KVSH started announcing the plan.

Wednesday, KVSH News contacted Mr. Johnson who is coordinating the effort to replace hay for those families who lost their hay in the Anderson Bridge fire.  Mr. Johnson told KVSH that the generosity of the residents of this area and beyond has been tremendous.  At this time, donors have committed about 28 loads of hay.  Some from as far away at Columbus.  That comes to an estimated 560 tons, or over 1 million pounds of donated hay.  They have also had big commitments from people willing to haul the hay to the area South of Kilgore where the Marvin Miller, Rueben Miller and Eli Brenneman families lost almost all their hay which will be needed for livestock until green grass around the first of June.

They could still use some hay and hauling for this local relief effort. Call John Johnson at 402 322 1718 for more information.

KVSH will also assist in other upcoming fund-raising effort for local needs. Stay tuned.
