Multiple City of Valentine Electric customers were without power Thursday afternoon after a dump truck made contact with overhead power lines on the south end of Valentine at about 1:45pm. According to City Manager Shane Siewart, the dump truck driver left the back dump of the truck in the "up" position and made contact with the lines just off of Development street between Highway 20 and the airport.

Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service and Valentine Volunteer Fire Department were also called to the scene, but no injuries were reported in the incident.

Many customers experienced a power surge, but others had power out until about 3:30pm before power was fully restored.
