The Sparks Nebraska Spurs hosted three days of Cowboy Fast Draw at the Cherry County Fairgrounds this past Friday through Sunday.  It was some tough shooting with over 60 competitors, from 7 states, in men’s and women’s divisions. Some shooters traveled from Arizona to compete.

Three local shooters tied for points for the Nebraska Resident Champion, which is the highest placed Nebraska Resident.  Rich Mercure, Tom McClouhan and Mike Burge had a winner take all, one shot contest for the buckle, and Rich Mercure won the prize with the fastest shot. Rich placed 4th overall, Burge took 7th place and Tom placed 10th.

On Saturday Dean Storms won the event with Tom McClouhan taking 10th.  Nancy Storms placed 9th on Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s contest was a little different format, but Mike Burge placed second in his Master Gunfighter bracket.

The fast draw club members would like to thank the community for their support, especially the major sponsors, Union Bak and Trust and The Cherry County Visitors Promotion Board.
