City of Valentine Awards Additional $335k To Valentine Event Center, Mural Dedication Planned

3rd Street will be closed Saturday August 12 for the dedication of the mural.

A nearly 3-hour Valentine City Council meeting was held Thursday, August 13th. At this meeting, the council voted to pledge 335,000 additional dollars to the Valentine Event Center project. This would bring their total up to 500,000 dollars, as they have already contributed $165,000 to the project.

The council also voted to close 3rd street from Cherry to Main Street to traffic from 8am-2pm on the 12th of September to host a mural dedication for the new artwork located on

the south side of Huskerland Hardware. Organizers plan a farmers' market, vendors and more. An official dedication ceremony was tentatively set for 11am that morning.

A cost of living increase was granted to all non-union workers (excluding

golf course workers) of 3% was granted, and work on sewer receptors should be done by mid-December as contractors have asked for some time extensions.
