KVSH News reported earlier that the City of Valentine began adding chlorine to the municipal water supply on November 14. According to a release from the city, recent routine testing had identified a limited number of positive results for coliform bacteria in the distribution system. City Manager Shane Seiwart stated Friday that the chlorination process will continue indefinitely until residual readings are at a proper level. Seiwart also stated that the water department is adding as little chlorine as possible to keep the drinking water safe while trying to keep the smell and taste of the water palatable.
It is important to remember that the City of Valentine has stated that the water remains safe to drink and use for all purposes including cooling, bathing, laundry, etc.
Again, there is no immediate timeline for the discontinuation of the chlorination process, but KVSH Radio will help the city get the word out once an announcement is made.
