The Cherry County Visitors Promotion Board continues to raise funds for a new events center which would be connected to the South side of Mid Plains Community college campus in Valentine. The total cost of the project is about 4.5 million dollars.  At this time, they have 1.5 million dollars from the county promotion fund and have raised over $600,000.  They will need to raise another 1 million dollars before some foundation grants will kick in additional funding.  Mid Plains stated that when three quarters of the money has been raised or pledged, they will move forward with plans to construct.  Once constructed, Mid Plains will handle operations and maintenance.

There are still opportunities to contribute, especially with the end of the tax year coming up. Paver bricks are still available along with opportunities to name rooms or the entire building. Go to itstimevalentine.com (it’s time valentine) to find out more information about the project and how to contribute.
