The Cherry County Commissioner's Race will be contested in 2026. KVSH Radio had reported earlier that both incumbents up for re-election, Nina Nelson and Mike McConaughey had filed for office. With Duane Kime putting his name in the hat, the race will be contested. Another contested race will be for Cherry County Sheriff. Max Renning and Erick Wickman have both filed for the office after incumbent Sheriff Rusty Osburn stated that he would not be running for re-election.

The deadline for incumbents to file for re-election has past. However, challengers will have until the March 2nd deadline to file for office in the Nebraska Primary Election.

Here's a complete list of filings to the Cherry County Clerk's office as of Februry 17.
