Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department responded to a handful of calls this weekend. Smoke was seen coming from an apartment at the Parmelee Elderly Duplex shortly after 5:30pm on Saturday. According to Rosebud Fire Chief Kenny Provencial, the department had an off duty firefighter who had just arrived in Parmalee just before the fire call had arrived and was able to arrive on scene in a privately owned vehicle to conduct an initial assessment, assist residents in evacuating the premises, and knock down the fire with an extinguisher while fire trucks were en route. Provencial credits this quick response in saving the structure and the apartment building’s occupants.
Shortly after, Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department arrived with fire trucks to finish the job. There were no injuries in this incident, and damage was confined to the single apartment.
There were also a couple potential grass fires which both ended up being trash piles burning. The Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind listeners to notify Rosebud dispatch of any trash piles or other burn pits that you will be working on, and to be especially careful with dangerous fire conditions that remain in the area.
