September Continues to be Busy

More events are coming up for the Valentine Community in September.
This weekend will be the 4th annual Sandhills Catfish Tournament at Merrit Reservoir. The tournament is full with 40 teams registered according to organizer Tyler Brown of Tooth and Whisker Outdoors in Valentine. This will be a daytime tournament with fishing from 7AM till 4pm. Weigh in will be at 4pm at the Main Boat Ramp area. Brown told KVSH news that the champions will receive over $4,000 for first place. The rules meeting will be held Friday evening.
Another event this Saturday will be the final in a series of summer concerts organized by The Bunkhouse and Humdinger Boots. Kaden Haddock will perform Saturday evening at The Bunkhouse with free admission. The Bunkhouse will have the Husker game at 11AM, cornhole tournament with over $1,400 in added money at 4pm and Haddock on stage about 8pm.
Looking ahead a week, the Sparks Nebraska Spurs of the Cowboy Fast Draw Association will host a three-day shoot at the Cherry County Fairgrounds September 19th through the 21st. Shooting begins at 9AM on September 19th and each day through Sunday. The Heart City Round Up, made some changes this year to welcome shooters from across the country. Latest reports have entries from Arizona, Minnesota, Michigan and numerous other states coming to Valentine. The public is welcome to watch the men’s and women’s shooting competition in the Pavillion at the fairgrounds.
