Multiple businesses and organizations will be benefiting from this year's grants from the Sandhills Area Foundation.

From the Sandhills Area Foundation:

The Sandhills Area Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 community grant awards, recognizing local organizations whose projects strengthen the vitality, enrichment, and well-being of Cherry County and surrounding communities.

This year’s awarded organizations include the Valentine Teammates Chapter, Cody Cowboy Grit, Valentine Chamber of Commerce, Valentine Community Schools Music Department, American Legion Post 90, Valentine Children and Families Coalition (VCFC), and the Cherry County Convention Center. Each recipient demonstrates strong community commitment and innovative efforts to serve local needs — from mentoring and supporting youth, to enhancing local events, businesses, and facilities.

The Foundation received an unprecedented number of applications for 2026, reflecting both the creativity and the growing needs of area organizations. However, with fewer funds available compared to last year, not all requests could be met in full.

“We were inspired by the breadth and quality of applications this cycle,” said Kim Marlatt, Sandhills Area Foundation President. “While resources were limited, the enthusiasm and dedication of these applicants highlight the incredible spirit that keeps Cherry County strong. We look forward to continuing to partner with organizations that make a lasting local impact.”

The Sandhills Area Foundation extends sincere thanks to all applicants and donors who make the grant program possible each year. Contributions of any size directly support future community projects and continue the Foundation’s mission of investing in the Sandhills of Cherry County for future generations to prosper through charitable giving and community partnerships.
