It’s National Fire Prevention Week, but fire crews were kept busy Thursday morning in south central South Dakota.  According to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page, firefighters were dispatched to the report of multiple haybales on fire west of St. Francis.

A large number of hay bales were lost in the fire, fought by multiple Rosebud fire trucks.  BIA Fire also responded.

It was also reported that during the mop-up process of that fire, one of the Rosebud volunteers then spotted a structure fire.  That call came in at about 6:20 Thursday morning.  As of 8:30am, RSTVFD was on that scene dousing an abandoned trailer that had caught fire.  No suspected cause was announced, and no other details were available at the time.
