Paper Shredding

Nearly 11 tons of old paperwork were kept out of the trash and securely destroyed during the recent North Central Nebraska RC&D paper shredding events. Businesses and residents along Highways 20 and 12 brought boxes and bags filled with old bills, financial records, and sensitive documents. In all, 82 bins of paperwork were collected. Over two days, a truck from Security Shredding Services stopped in twelve communities, providing on-site document destruction.
To ensure that none of the documents fell into the wrong hands, the bins were filled, then equipment dumped the contents into the shredder, and within minutes, was turned into confetti-like pieces of paper. That confetti is then baled and sent to a paper mill, where it is recycled into new paper and other paper products.
The process not only protects personal information but also keeps a significant amount of material out of the landfill. The North Central RC&D appreciates the strong participation and the support of local community
volunteers who helped make the event possible.
