The Nebraska Star Party wrapped up its 33rd event last week near Merrit Reservoir.  According to John Johnson over 400 paid attendees participated in the weeklong event, taking advantage of the areas dark skies allowing for a clear, unobstructed view of the night sky and the stars, planets and more.  While daytime temperatures were quite high this year, the weather did allow for virtually cloudless nights.  The event drew visitors from around the nation as well as several international guests. Johnson added that the attendees enjoy the amenities that the area provides visitors including the natural attractions while tubing, canoeing and kayaking the Niobrara River and the area’s many waterfalls, and also doing some downtown shopping and dining at Valentine’s many eateries.

No theme has been announced yet, but the Nebraska Star Party is already making plans for it’s 34th annual event August 1st through the 6th in 2027.
