With an important general election coming up on November 3rd, a Cherry County resident, Janet Parkhurst has put together an informational 4 page document that addresses several issues facing Cherry County. Recent years have seen a divided community which lacks unification and has led to irrationality and idealism.

This document addresses community topics such as hog farms, wind development, litigation and county government. An issue Cherry County voters will be asked to vote on in November will be adding two additional county commissioners. There are both pros and cons to doing this in a county the size of almost 4 million acres. The documents address those questions. If the proposal passes, the two new commissioners would be appointed by three elected officials and not voted on by the public, until the next election.

Other topics addressed include property rights, including whether or not the county should use zoning.

The goal of the information is the promote a stronger Cherry County. The documents are available to the public at Huskerland Hardware, Valentine Livestock Auction, Niobrara Valley Feed, Central Valley Ag and Janine's Flower Exchange.
