As of Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, including a chance to hit 100 in the following week in the KVSH listening area.
Tom Monroe at Monroe HVAC had some advice for folks to help their air conditioning units to keep up with the heatwave. Preparing for the hot weather, listeners are advised to clean out the coils of their units, making sure there is no dirt, dust or debris that would inhibit the air conditioner’s ability to cool your home or office. Likewise, cleaning or changing your filters is another important and easy way to keep your AC unit from working harder than it has to.
Tom also reminds people to turn down your thermostats a couple degrees and then leave it – stating that maintaining a temperature throughout the day is easier on your air conditioner than continually changing the temp.
Finally, make sure your vents are clear of furniture or clutter so that air can better circulate in the space.
If your AC unit has been struggling this year, it’s best to have a professional check your unit in the event that it may need service or a tune-up before the system fails completely.
