Doris Elaine Studeny, 79, of Hager City, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 25, 1945, in Valentine, Nebraska to Franklin and Irene (Whitley) Spracklen. She graduated in1963, from Valentine High School. In 1963, she married John Coupland and they later divorced. On May 17, 1972, she was united in marriage to Roger Studeny in Mitchell, SD. They were blessed with three children, John, Sarah and Ivy. Doris was employed doing various jobs, including, driving semi, waitressing, was a CNA at a nursing home, NSP Power Plant, Riviera Kitchens and retired from Capital Safety. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, a den leader for cub scouts and girl scouts and also had a daycare at her home for a few years. Doris enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing puzzles, but most of all being with her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her three children, John (Son) Studeny, Sarah (Kyle) Roach and Ivy (David) Conrad; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Forsch, Karen Fuller and Luree (Jim) Smith; one brother, Verle (MaryAnn) Spracklen along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roger on May 23, 2023 and three brothers, Lowell, Marvin and Myron.
Graveside service will be Friday at 11:30 am followed by a light lunch at the Catholic Church in Valentine.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine NE followed by a light lunch at St. Nicholas Church in Valentine. Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2024, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Brandon Theisen presiding.
Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
