City Council Discusses Carnivals, Ballfields At September Meeting

The City of Valentine held their regular monthly meeting following the 6pm budget hearing at the Valentine Public Library meeting room Thursday evening. During the meeting, the council discussed exploring a cooperation between the city and the Cherry County Ag Society to possibly bring a carnival back to the area in the future. Cherry County Ag Society President Jon Kime discussed the possibility with the council Thursday. If the carnival does return, Kime stated that it may not be a part of the fair. Apparently, June would be a good possibility.
The board also discussed improvements to the ballfield complex in the northeast part of town. More information on that project will be coming along soon.
Some other topics discussed during the meeting included an update by Doug Louden providing information on the interceptor sewer project that continues in Valentine, and the property tax request for fiscal year 2026-2027 was approved for the amount of $399K.
The next regular meeting of the Valentine City Council will be held on Thursday October 8th.
