Several Valentine Citizens attended an informational meeting last night with representatives of the Heritage Nebraska Main street program.  The two representatives spent most of the afternoon walking Valentine’s Main Street and looking at things that could improve business.  The program encourages renovation of downtown businesses to revitalize the business districts of Nebraska communities.  Suggestions included everything from simply pulling weeds in the sidewalks and street level signage, to building face lifts to reveal the old character of Main Street structures.  If the community decided to participate in the program, a local board would be formed to spearhead the effort with technical help from the Heritage Nebraska group.  For more information about the Main Street program you can go to nebraskamainstreet.org.
