Valentine Fire Department requesting spray rigs in Monday afternoon update

Fire crews are building a new fire line north of Sunnybrook camp on the Niobrara River. The new line will be west of Coleman Creek where the fire jumped a line yesterday. They could use more spray rigs if anybody has a rig and can help out, report to the Valentine fire hall.
The Southwest corner of the fire in the hills in Cherry County is looking good and firefighters have made significant progress. Once the fire came into the grass covered hills, crews could attack and put the blaze out.
Mary Lou Kerr told KVSH news that the Kerr place is 90% gone and crews are headed back to the Meyers Place and Kirk Sharp Place to create another fire line. Those two places were saved yesterday but the fire has been pushed back that direction today.
