At the July 12 meeting of the Valentine City Council, over 100 concerned people crammed into the library meeting room, most of which were showing support of the Valentine Police Department.  The matter of eliminating the department was on the city council's agenda and was quickly taken care of when mayor Rowdy Kleunder stated that he was given some bad information prompting him to put the matter on the agenda.  The council then voted to keep the Valentine Police Department which led to cheers from the crowd.
