From 1011 News:
Four time wrestling state champion Doyle Trout was seriously injured in a car accident Sunday near Waco, Nebraska.
According to Centennial High School wrestling team, Doyle's left leg has been amputated just above his knee.
York County Sheriff Dale Radcliff said Trout was speeding and bent down to get something in his vehicle when he lost control. Radcliff said Trout swerved into a ditch, hit a power pole and was pinned when his vehicle rolled onto its side.
Life Flight was called in, to 2215 Road 14 near Waco, but had to be delayed until the power could be shut down in the area. Radcliff said it took about 30 minutes to free Trout from the wreck.
He was flown to a Lincoln hospital with what Radcliff described as serious internal injuries.
Trout was a star wrestler for Centennial High School winning four straight state championships. He signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle at the University of Wyoming.
Tuesday afternoon Wyoming Wrestling Head Coach Mark Branch issued the following statement on Trout's accident and injury, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Doyle and his family. Doyle is a strong young man, and he was in good spirits when we saw him on Monday. This is obviously a life-changing incident, but he is a young man who is equipped to handle this. He is still part of our family. We told his family when we saw them that nothing changes on our end, we will honor his scholarship, and he is still a Wyoming Cowboy. We want Doyle and his family to know that we are here to support them any way we can. We're thankful that he didn't have any life-threatening injuries. Given the severity of the accident, it is amazing that he will be able to move forward and live a healthy life. "
The wrestling community has reached out on Twitter showing support using #doylestrong and #doylenation.
