GNST Results from Broken Bow

Nineteen swimmers from Valentine GNST traveled to Broken Bow over the weekend to compete in the Broken Bow Sprint into Summer 2013 swim meet.  Approximately 75 swimmers from five teams across Nebraska ranging in ages from 5 to 18, gathered Saturday and Sunday to compete in 41 events.

Valentine swimmers KayLynn Miller (age 11) and Ethan Osnes (age 15) were recipients of the coveted Bob Fitzpatrick Award this year for having the fastest time in their age group in the 50M freestyle.  Honorable mentions went out to Emma Richards, Raelyn Adams, Taryn Adams, Cody Miller, Dylan Witt, and Nathan Miller.

Meet results are as follows...

Raelyn Adams placed 4th in the 100M Freestyle, 3rd in the 50M breaststroke, 2nd in the 50M backstroke, 2nd in the 100M breaststroke, 1st in the 50M butterfly, 3rd in the 50M freestyle, and 1st in the 100M backstroke.

Taryn Adams placed 3rd in the 100M freestyle, 2nd in the 100M butterfly, 3rd in the 200M freestyle, 1st in the 100M breaststroke, 3rd in the 50M freestyle, 1st in the 100M backstroke, and 1st in the 200M Individual Medley.

Hanna Bitner placed 4th in the 25M freestyle and 4th in the 50M freestyle.

Brennan Jackson placed 5th in the 100M freestyle, 4th in the 50M breaststroke, 3rd in the 50M backstroke, 2nd in the 200M freestyle and 4th in the 50M freestyle.

Katelynn Jackson placed 2nd in the 400M Individual Medley, 2nd in the 200M backstroke, 5th in the 200M Freestyle, 3rd in the 400M freestyle and 2nd in the 200M Individual Medley.

Nathan Miller placed 4th in the 100M freestyle, 3rd in the 50M breaststroke, 2nd in the 200M breaststroke, 2nd in the 100M breaststroke, 3rd in the 50M freestyle, 3rd in the 100M backstroke, 2nd in the 200M Individual medley.

Casey Miller placed 1st in the 25M breaststroke, 1st in the 50M breaststroke, 2nd in the 25M backstroke, 2nd in the 25M butterfly, 3rd in the 25M freestyle, 4th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 100M backstroke.

Cody Miller placed 3rd in the 100M freestyle, 5th in the 50M breaststroke, 2nd in the 50M backstroke, 3rd in the 50M freestyle, and 1st in the 100M backstroke.

KayLynn Miller placed 1st in the 100M freestyle, 2nd in the 50M breaststroke, 3rd in the 50M backstroke, 1st in the 100M breaststroke, 1st in the 50M freestyle (Bob Fitzpatrick award winner!), and 1st in the 200M Individual Medley.

Ethan Osnes placed 2nd in the 100M breaststroke, 2nd in the 50M butterfly, 1st in the 50M freestyle (Bob Fitzpatrick award winner!), 1st in the 100M backstroke, and 2nd in the 200M Individual Medley.

Ava Reagle placed 4th in the 100M freestyle.

Skyler Reagle placed 5th in the 100M freestyle, 5th in the 50M breaststroke, and 5th in the 50M backstroke.

Emma Richards placed 1st in the 100M freestyle, 1st in the 25M backstroke, 1st in the 50M backstroke, 2nd in the 25M freestyle, 2nd in the 50M freestyle, and 1st in the 100M backstroke.

Haylee Richards placed 3rd in the 100M freestyle, 4th in the 50M breaststroke, 3rd in the 50M backstroke, 3rd in the 100M backstroke, 6th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 100M backstroke.

Ian Slama placed 6th in the 50M freestyle.

Aiden Tiefenthaler placed 5th in the 100M freestyle, 6th in the 50M backstroke, 3rd in the 50M freestyle and 3rd in the 100M backstroke.

Elena Tiefenthaler placed 3rd in the 100M freestyle, 2nd in the 50M breaststroke, 2nd in the 50M backstroke, 3rd in the 50M butterfly, 4th in the 50M freestyle, 1st in the  100M butterfly, 4th in the 200M freestyle, 3rd in the 100M breaststroke, 1st in the 200M Individual Medley, and 1st in the 200M butterfly.

Daniel Witt placed 6th in the 50M freestyle and 7th in the 25M freestyle.

Dylan Witt placed 2nd in the 100M freestyle, 2nd in the 50M breaststroke, 1st in the 200M breaststroke, 1st in the 200M freestyle, 1st in the 100M breaststroke, 2nd in the 50M butterfly, 2nd in the 50M freestyle, 2nd in the 100M backstroke and 1st in the 200M Individual Medley.

Valentine swimmers will have nearly three weeks to gear up for some big meets in July including Hastings, Cornhusker State Games, the Kearney Summer Sizzler and the State Tournament held the last weekend in July to wrap up the season.

Omaha results should be available later in the week.

Valentine High School Receives Award

“The Nebraska School Activities Association is announced that Bancroft-Rosalie, Gothenburg, Lincoln Lutheran, Norfolk Catholic, and Valentine high schools earn the Farmers® School Sportsmanship Award for the 2012-13 school year by working to provide a competitive environment during their interscholastic activities which emphasizes positive actions and fairness for everyone.”

The NSAA member schools have received the Farmers School Sportsmanship banner to hang in their schools. A Farmers representative will present the Sportsmanship Award at an all-school event of the school’s choosing during the upcoming school year.

 

GNST Kearney Invite Results

Ten swimmers from GNST Valentine travelled to Kearney Saturday June 8th braving the rain and cool temperatures to compete in the GNST Kearney Invite.  Approximately 90 swimmers from 5 teams across Nebraska competed in 31 events at the first outdoor meet of the summer.

Lexi Long finished 3rd in the 100M freestyle and 3rd in the 50M freestyle.

Elena Tiefenthaler finished 8th in the 100M freestyle, 5th in the 200M individual medley, 7th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 200M butterfly.

Shyla Stearns finished 3rd in the 50M breaststroke, 1st in the 50M butterfly,and 6th in the 50M freestyle.

Savanna Dean finished 7th in the 100M freestyle, 6th in the 200M individual medley, and 8th in the 100M breaststroke.

Makenzie Long finished 6th in the 50M breaststroke, 5th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 100M breaststroke.

Aiden Tiefenthaler finished 9th in the 100M freestyle, 13th in the 50M freestyle, and 9th in the 50M backstroke.

Ethan Osnes finished 4th in the 100M freestyle, 1st in the 200M individual medley, 4th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 100M butterfly.

Daniel Witt finished 5th in the 50M freestyle.

Caleb Long finished 2nd in the 50M breaststroke, 1st in the 200M breaststroke, 4th in the 50M freestyle, and 1st in the 100M breaststroke.

Dylan Witt finished 3rd in the 50M breaststroke, 4th in the 50M butterfly, 6th in the 50M freestyle, and 2nd in the 100M breaststroke.

Nineteen swimmers from Valentine will travel to Broken Bow this weekend (June 15-16) for two days of competition at the BCST Sprint into Summer meet.

Four swimmers from Valentine will travel to Omaha this weekend (June 15-16) for two days of competition at the MOST Summer Splash meet.

   

Local Event to Raise Money for Rodeo

The Valentine Rodeo Club is having pole & barrels jackpots as a fund raiser for the local rodeo kids. The funds are used to defray expenses for those qualifying for the National Junior High and High School finals. We have earmarked a portion of the funds raised towards some scholarships for those going on to college.

Osnes to play in Shrine Bowl Saturday

The 55th Annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl Game will be played June 1st, at 2 p.m. at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field in Kearney. Tickets will be $7 for students, $12 for general admission and can be purchased through the ‘Tickets’ tab. Trent Osnes from Valentine High School has been selected to be part of the North Team.
