Sole Sisters Race

The Valentine Youth Activities Office hosted the first Sole Sisters 5K race Sunday. 16 girls ages 3rd-6th grade along with their coaches, friends and family hit the streets of Valentine to run the 3.1 mile race. The race began at the Trailhead on Main Street and then proceeded west down the cowboy trail to Thatcher Street. Cherry County Hospital Ambulance staff road along with the girls on bikes helping with street crossings and any emergency that arose. The runners continued on a course that weaved its way through the northwest part of town with the final stretch taking them down Hall Street back to the Trail head. The Valentine High School Volleyball girls manned a water station at Pine View Good Samaritan Center, the race's midpoint. Ron Qualley and Margaret Schneider of the Healthy Choices 4 Cherry County organization ran the end of the race water and snack station. The girls were recognized for their efforts with end of race certificates and twist and go Pepsi cups donated by Pepsi. Sole Sister Shelby Grooms was recognized for a 1st place finish. Emily Chaney received 2nd place recognition and Lydia Krenke came in 3rd place.
