United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man charged with assaulting a federal officer was sentenced on March 28, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Lance Dean Dorian, age 26, was sentenced to five months in custody, five months of home confinement, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Dorian was indicted for Assaulting a Federal Officer by a federal grand jury on May 11, 2010. The charge relates to Dorian assaulting a federal officer on April 14, 2010, in Todd County. He pled guilty to the charge on January 5, 2011.

Dorian was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The Valentine/Cherry County Economic Development Board will host a meeting this Thursday evening to discuss the housing needs of the area.  Questions to be addressed include: defining what type of housing the area needs and how to best facilitate addressing those needs. There will most likely be discussion about rental properties, first time starter homes and housing in general. Housing plays a key role in community and economic development in any area.  This meeting is intended for people involved in real estate, land lords, contractors, building supply companies, construction companies or anyone concerned with housing in the area.  The Economic Development Board wants to find out how they can assist in meeting the housing needs of this area to encourage expansion and economic development.
